DAY 1 : LABUAN BAJO – TODO VILLAGE – SPIDER WEB RICE FIELD – RUTENG (L)
The tour starts from Labuan Bajo at 08.00 AM. Enjoy a scenic overland drive through the beautiful landscapes of Flores, passing traditional villages, rice fields, and rolling hills. Our first destination is Todo Village, one of the oldest traditional villages in Manggarai and a former center of the Manggarai Kingdom civilization. Explore the unique traditional houses known as Niang Todo, sacred ceremonial areas, ancient stone structures, and historical relics that reflect the rich cultural heritage of the Manggarai people. Learn about the traditional kingdom system known as Jama and discover how ancestral traditions continue to shape daily life in the village today. After exploring Todo Village, continue the journey toward the famous Cancar Spider Web Rice Field, locally known as Lingko. These unique rice fields are arranged in a spectacular spider web pattern representing the traditional communal land distribution system of Manggarai society. Enjoy the panoramic scenery, take photos, and learn about the cultural philosophy behind the rice field design. After lunch, continue driving to Ruteng, a charming highland town surrounded by mountains and cool fresh air. Check in at hotel, enjoy dinner, and overnight stay in Ruteng.
DAY 2 : LIANG BUA HOBBIT CAVE – RUTENG COUNTRYSIDE – LABUAN BAJO (B/L)
After breakfast, continue the journey to Liang Bua Cave, internationally known as the Hobbit Cave. This archaeological site became world-famous after the discovery of the ancient remains of Homo floresiensis, a prehistoric human species with a small body and brain size found approximately 6 meters below the cave surface. Archaeologists estimate that these remains date back around 18,000 years. Excavations also uncovered fossils of prehistoric animals such as stegodons (ancient elephants), Komodo dragons, turtles, and giant lizards. Explore the cave area while learning about the fascinating history of human evolution and archaeological discoveries in Flores. Afterward, enjoy a short exploration of the beautiful Ruteng countryside, featuring scenic rice terraces, mountain landscapes, coffee plantations, and authentic village life. Lunch will be served at a local restaurant before continuing the drive back to Labuan Bajo. Estimated arrival in Labuan Bajo is in the late afternoon, followed by hotel drop-off.
